Roz Kaveney in Conversation
The first of a multitude of free events at Outsiders kicks off with a very special guest – science fiction author, poet, film critic, cultural commentator and Trans superstar Roz Kaveney in conversation.
Whatever you’re into, whether it’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, queer theory, The Matrix, Transgender activism or Tank Girl, Roz is the woman for you - and she’s got a fascinating life story to tell too: “I was raised Catholic but got over it, born male but got over it, stopped sleeping with boys about the time I stopped being one and am much happier than I was when I was younger.”
Roz Kaveney is a former deputy chair of Liberty, the civil rights organisation, a founding member of Feminists Against Censorship and a member of the Midnight Rose collective (a group of British science fiction & fantasy writers that includes Neil Gaiman and Kim Newman). She is also the author of Reading the Vampire Slayer: The Unofficial Guide to Buffy and Angel (2003), From Alien to The Matrix: Reading Science Fiction Film (2005) and Superheroes! Capes and Crusaders in Comics and Films (2007).
